NMI Pricing

NMI pricing explained. Interchange-plus vs flat rate, gateway fees, per-transaction costs, and what to negotiate with your ISO.

Updated June 2025

How NMI Pricing Works

NMI doesn't publish a single price list. Costs are set by your ISO agreement. Two merchants can pay different rates based on volume, ticket size, and risk profile.

Pricing Models

Interchange-Plus

Most transparent: interchange rate + fixed markup. Preferred for high volume.

Tiered

Qualified/mid-qualified/non-qualified tiers. Simpler but less transparent.

Flat Rate

Fixed percentage (e.g., 2.9%+$0.30). Simplest but costlier at scale.

Typical Fees

FeeRange
Per-transaction$0.05-$0.30
Monthly gateway$0-$25
Batch settlement$0-$0.25
PCI compliance$0-$99/yr
Chargeback$15-$25
Interchange1.5%-3.5%

What to Negotiate

Markup above interchange, per-transaction fees, monthly minimums, contract length, ETF, PCI inclusion. See small business guide.

NMI vs Stripe Pricing

Stripe flat 2.9%+$0.30 simpler at low volume. NMI interchange-plus cheaper at scale. See comparison.
